Pumping from a sistern

Postby lwparchive » Tue Nov 06, 2012 4:41 pm

Hi, i am looking at this Goulds gt15 self priming pump for an irrigation system I am planning. It will be inside and pumping to flowerbeds and a small lawn with about 10' of lift above the sistern that feeds the pump. I plan to have 4-6 separate zones. Do you think this pump fits my need, and do I need a pressure shut off valve of some kind or is there a way for me to regulate the pressure. Also is there some kind safety feature so that if the sistern runs dry the pump shuts off. Sorry for all the questions but I want to do this once. Thank you. Don

I would utilize a pressurized system. The reason being is that you can use a pressure switch with a low pressure shutoff. At the same time, you want to size your zones so the pump runs continuously, we don't want to short cycle the pump.
