Spare Well Pump

Postby lwparchive » Tue Nov 06, 2012 4:32 pm

Hi,

I would like to buy a spare pump for my deep water well because the one that's in there is about 25 years old. The Goulds brand appears to be a good pump. My well is about 300 feet deep, I believe the existing pump is at about 250 feet, and water is present at about 75-50 feet depending on season. The case is 6 inches outside diameter and thickness is about 1/4 inch. It's currently using 3 wires 1 white 1 black and 1 red. Capacity at the electric panel is 30 amps 220 There is a well pit, it is not a pit less well. What pump do you recommend for pumping about 20gpm. I'd like to be able to run this pump if necessary with a 5000 watt continuous duty (5500 watt surge) gas or diesel powered generator and I'd like there to be excessive motor capacity so it's not taxed out and in case we ever have to go deeper. What pump do you recommend and what other stuff do I need in addition to the control box and wire? Based on the literature I was considering the 18GS15412C Please let me know so I can order, Thanks AY

The 18GS15412C will produce 20GPM at 220' TDH. Without knowing what your existing pump is, I cannot say that this particular model will perform the same.
