Pump wont reach 40 psi

Have a gould 1/2 horse jet pump that will not pump up to 40 psi will pump to 37 psi & hold there overnight .

Pump is new . can't figure out the problem.

Dependent upon suction lift and the model of your pump, you should still be able to pump upwards to 50 PSI. You may want to call our office and talk to one of our technical reps to see if you may have a problem with the application. If the pump will go to 37 psi and shut off and hold pressure, it sounds like there may be an issue with the incoming water supply.
