Sta-rite ds2 sprinkler pump

Postby Jzudans » Fri Apr 24, 2015 8:24 pm

Just replaced motor on this pump today. Pump was running well last week the locked up due to old age. When I restarted the pump, after priming, the discharge pressure was not high enough to activate any sprinkler heads. I realize this could be air in leakage on the suction side, but cannot find a source. There is a check valve downstream of the wellhead on the suction side which may be sticking but is not easy to asses without removing the valve. The attachment flange pump to motor assembly is quite large, but I have found no air in-leakage yet. Does anyone have any advise on how I may diagnose the problem and correct it?

First, I would make sure the voltage on the new motor matches the incoming voltage. second, re-prime the pump and let sit for some time. If you lose water, then, you have a leak. Third, check the check valve. If it is not opening, then, this could have caused the other motor to go out.
