I need to replace my submersible pump but can't figure out how to pull my old one. This is what I see about 4 1/2 feet down. I showed the picture to my local Plumbing Supply and he said he had never seen one like it. I was told the well was put in in 1967 and the pump was down 67 feet. Any help would be welcome.

Joe, never seen anything like that. Dependent upon where you are in the country, what you may be seeing is a what they call a "pitless adapter". If that is the case, your drop pipe will on the bottom side. My recommendation is to contact a pump company and have them pull the pump for you.

I couldn't get the Pit-Less valve to pop loose by myself so I found a local pump guy to come in and help me. Here is what the Pit-Less valve looks like removed.
