Please help with wiring

Postby Tomell601 » Wed Jul 09, 2014 11:28 pm

I unhooked my old motor without notating how the wires were hooked up thinking the diagram would be easy to read. My mistake. My electrical power to the motor is as follows: 115v, Black wire - hot, white wire -neutral, Bare wire - ground. All is well so far except that the diagram on my old and new motors both list the two electrical input wires at the motor as simply " line, line". I am not familiar with this notation. I am familiar with l1 and l2. Is the first "line" the same as "l1" and the second "line" the same as "l2"? At the motor, the first "line" would attach to a yellow with black stripe wire notated as "1". The second "line" would attach to a yellow wire notated as "6". I am sure this is very simple but I am unsure. Please help.

Sir, most all of the new motors are the same as far as the electrical connection. The key is to determine how the motor is configured, either 115 volt or 230 volt. On the new motor, there should be a sticker indicating how the motor can be configured as far as voltage is concerned. Line and line will be the same as L1 and L2. L1 would be black and L2 white. Just make sure the motor is configured for 115 volt before you apply power.

Thank you so much for the help. This is a great forum. That is what I assumed but since I am a novice I simply could not go on without knowing. I will hookup as follows after checking voltage:

(1) ON MOTOR - GREEN/BLACK STRIPE WIRE: CONNECT LINE(SAME AS L1)------BLACK(HOT)

(6) ON MOTOR - GREEN WIRE: CONNECT LINE(SAME AS L2)------WHITE(NEUTRAL)

Sorry, without a picture of the connection board and the wiring diagram, I cannot tell you 100% that that is correct.
