Self priming jet pump

I need to replace current well jet pump. I have a shallow well. I just need to know if the self priming pump would work for pumping water into an average 4-person household. Or is this product line for outdoor irrigation/pools only. And also why don't they make jet pumps self-priming too? I'm just lost on the variety of models Gould has. Is self priming the way to go?

The GT series pumps are use more for low pressure high volume applications, such as irrigation systems. Jet pumps normally are not self-priming. If you want a high pressure self-priming pump, then you may want to look at the Sta-Rite D series pumps. They are quite a bit more expensive, but may work for you. You need to make sure that what ever style pump you choose, you don't over pump your well.
