Seal ring gets sucked into the impeller

Postby lwparchive » Tue Nov 06, 2012 2:40 pm

I have a GT30 that has sucked the rubber seal ring into the impeller for the third time. When it does this the pump heats up and melts the impeller and the diffuser.

Can you tell me why this pump would happen?

Not certain why this would occur. The seal ring is slotted so that it fits inside the hole in the diaphragm. I would make sure that it is installed properly. If this has occurred more than once, I would replace the seal ring. Part number 5K6.
